CAREGIVER'S GRATITUDE JOURNAL
A CAREGIVER’S GRATITUDE
As a Caregiver, I have a lot of Cares and Concerns.
And so, to take my mind off of these cares and concerns, I decided to think of the things that I am grateful for as a Caregiver. Not an easy task, I must say.
As a Caregiver I am Thankful for:
The times at night when the Cable auto-updates the system and turns my Mother’s TV off while she’s asleep.
Ear Buds which work hard to drown out the sound of her TV blasting “All Night Long.”
The ability to flex my culinary muscles while preparing “3 Meals a Day.”
My Brother’s support in being there for me because I am not an “Only Child.”
Wine. Because “Day Drinking” is a thing.
The “Hugs” from strangers.
My Friends.
The understanding friendly voice on the other end of the line when speaking to Senior Health Care Professionals and Providers who patiently explain that my Mom is “Financially In-Between.”
Music.
The Google entity that is YouTube.
Legs with which to “Dance it Out.”
The ability to write and create “A Caregiver’s Conscience” in an effort to tell the others.
The “Grocery Store” delivery service
The moments of any days when I have the opportunity to “Rest in Peace.”
The knowledge that it’s the “Little Things” that I do for my Mom that truly make a difference.
My Imagination.
Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg’s passion for Grapes & 19 Crimes.
The people in this Senior Complex who will inspire characters in my Writing.
Memories of my past along with hopes and dreams of my future.
Anyone who connects with “A Caregiver’s Conscience.”
The times with my Mother which will turn into memories that I will treasure one of these days!
This list is very different from the entries in Grateful Journals of the past. I suppose that should be expected since my life is very different than it was in the past. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing, it definitely proves that “Life Goes On.”
