I do miss my mother dearly. I miss how capable, smart, and persevering she was before dementia ravaged the person she used to be. I can relate to all those scenarios you described, as they were similar to snapshots of my caregiving journey. I’m grateful I could help my mother as long as I did, but I often wish I had done a better job.

I'm sure that you did the absolutely best job that your Mom's Daughter could. It's not easy being a Caregiver-Daughter--not easy at all. You did help your Mother--always remember that there was a time when she needed you and you were there.

What a great way to think about caregiving! It made me miss my Mom and husband...I would give anything to care for them for another day ;)
